Everyone wants a good life. That’s something that’s universal in all of us. Even animals want to live the good life. But what is a good life? If you have enough food and enough drink, is that considered having a good life? If you are swimming in riches, does that mean you are living a good life? What a good life is varies greatly from person to person. Some want to be on top of the world, while some simply want to be content with what they have. For Christians, though, a good life is inextricable from a life lived in accordance with God. That’s according to Tish Barnhardt, a transformational author and lover of God’s word.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

The good life for a Christian is a journey that is marked by faith and love; it is a path that leads to divine grace and profound transformation.

The Foundation of the Good Life

At the heart of a good Christian life is to be in deep and abiding worship of God. Only when one conducts oneself in complete accordance with God’s will can one contribute immensely to the world. Your faith, then, isn’t merely a framework for belief but a living, breathing relationship with God Himself.

Because connecting with the divine can often be circumstantial, this relationship cannot be treated as any other. To nurture this relationship, prayer is most vital. A consistent life of prayer is essential to keep in touch with God, especially since it’s the most opportune time to pour one’s heart out, express gratitude and seek guidance.

Alongside prayer, there should also be ample time for studying the Bible, the inspired Word of God, and going to church. Understanding what is written in scripture allows one to better comprehend God’s ineffable plans and, thus, live in accordance while attending mass, bringing one in communion with like-minded individuals, learning from and encouraging each other in each other’s pursuit of a more intimate relationship with God.

Making a Lifetime of Transformational Impacts

As a believer in God, the best way to heed His will is to touch the world and the lives of the people around us. To bear a legacy that is most pleasing to the Lord is the greatest achievement one can give Him.

Good Living with Love

Love is foundational in living a Christian life. While there is the emotion of love, there is also the act of doing it. The latter is what Christians pursue, the deliberate decision to love God and His creation without condition.

  • Loving God should be what animates one in every action. It should also compel one to seek His light and follow His commandments.
  • Loving others is in accordance with Christ’s commandment of loving our neighbors as one does with themselves.
